What can a health and wellness coach do for me?

Updated: Sep 19, 2022

According to the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), health and wellness coaches 'support clients in activating internal strengths and external resources to make sustainable and healthy lifestyle behavior changes'. Whew!

That's a lot to digest! Let's break it down.

Health and wellness coaches (HWC) support clients. They don't direct, prescribe, demand, coax, or shame you into action. Instead, HWC partner with you. They walk alongside you providing support as you change your lifestyle habits. Change isn't always easy and having a partner that will meet you where you are, be an active listener, and ask powerful questions may be just what you need to create sustainable lifestyle behaviors.

In meeting you where you are, HWC help you uncover what is already within, including internal strengths. Along the journey of life, sometimes our true selves get buried amongst the shoulds (I should eat more vegetables.), have to (I have to go to the gym.), and musts (I must stop eating dessert). When you reveal your authentic self, you will find you are stronger than you think and can easily activate your internal strengths to create a path forward after a cancer diagnosis.

Tune in next week as I break down external resources and sustainable and healthy lifestyle behavior changes. While you wait, I invite you to check my 'Coaching Programs' page and see if there is a program that might serve your needs!
