As I mentioned in my previous post, I will continue to explore what health and wellness coaching can do for you. In the NBHWC definition "Health and wellness coaches support clients in activating internal strengths and external resources to make sustainable and healthy lifestyle behavior changes", what is meant by external resources?
An external resource is something you put into place that helps you make changes. Perhaps you download an app that tracks your diet and physical activity. Or, you set up a morning meeting with friends to walk in your neighborhood. Maybe you ask your family for help in cooking dinner. All of these are examples of external resources that can help along the way of behavior change. Each person will have unique external resources since one thing doesn't work for everybody. Part of my role as a health coach is to help you identify external resources that will help develop sustainable lifestyle behavior changes.
Next week, I'll review the American Cancer Society physical activity guidelines to reduce risk of developing cancer.
What external resources can you tap into? I'd love to hear from you! Post in the comments below!
